One Juvenile In Custody Sunday Following Saturday Night Death.
PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A teenager is dead and what the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office describes as a “juvenile” is in custody following a gun incident Saturday night in Greenacres/Lake Worth Beach. Police were called to the scene in the 5000 block fo Edgecliif Avenue — just off Military Trail — around 5:10 p.m. Upon their arrival, they discovered a 16-year-old male deceased from an apparent gunshot wound.
“Detectives from the Violent Crimes Division arrived on scene and assumed the investigation,” said PBSO. “It was determined that the shooting occurred when several juveniles mishandled a firearm, leading to the tragic death of the victim. A juvenile was identified and charged with second-degree murder with a firearm and tampering with evidence. The investigation remains active, and further details will be provided as they become available.”
Police did not release the identity of the victim. It is unlikely that the name of the suspect will be released unless prosecutors charge him as an adult. As of Sunday morning, the Palm Beach County Jail did not have a public record of anyone charged with a gun crime on Saturday.
Edgecliff Avenue runs north from Lantana Road in a residential community. It is just east of Jog Road and west of Military Trail. It is a very short distance from the Foundry golf and country club.
