Multiple parents, concerned that the school and school district was not providing enough information, provided this message that was transmitted by Principal Kelly Patrick: “Good afternoon Verde K-8 families and staff. A student made an inappropriate comment that was overheard by other students today. This was interpreted as being unsafe and reported to administration. School Police and our Administration Team quickly investigated the incident and determined that our campus is safe. That student is now facing strict discipline as outlined in the Student Code of Conduct.
We take the safety of our school seriously and will investigate all possible threats related to our school. This applies whether the threat is written or electronic or even if it’s meant as a joke. Families, please use this as an opportunity to discuss with your children how our words and actions have consequences. Poorly chosen words or actions may have lasting consequences well beyond their intent. Thank you for your understanding and continued support of Verde K-8. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call the front office.”
