BOYNTON BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Lake Worth woman is accused of causing a West Boynton Beach crash that left two people dead back in August. The crash occurred on August 31st at the intersection of U.S. 441/SR 7 and Armone Place (on the east side) and Osprey Pond (on the west). Killed were Ruben Desarmes of Heritage Grand in Boynton Beach and Yulissa Medrano Perez of Lake Worth.

Alfaro-Canales was taken into custody during a raid around 5 a.m. Thursday. The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Warrants unit executed the arrest at her home on Davis Road in Lake Worth. She is charged with two counts of driving without a valid license and causing death. Alfaro-Canales is being held without bond.

According to police, Alfaro-Canales was traveling westbound on Armone Place, attempting to enter and cross the intersection of South State Road 7 from east to west. “Vehicle 2” was traveling southbound on South State Road 7, approaching the intersection of Armone Place/Osprey Pond Lane, within the center lane of travel. As Alfaro-Canales entered the intersection, she crossed all northbound through lanes and passed through the center median break, before entering the southbound lanes where it violated ‘vehicle 2s’ right of way in the center southbound lane of travel, causing the ensuing collision.

The two people killed were both in Alfaro-Canales’ vehicle. Also in her vehicle were Jose Acosta of Lake Worth and Yesley Hernandez — both were injured. The driver of “vehicle 2” — a Toyota Rav 4 — was also injured.
