
DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The Delray Beach Police Department working with federal agents nabbed a man they say is responsible for the shooting death of a man in Delray Beach earlier this month. Delray Beach PD issued this statement early Thursday evening:
>>On Wednesday, February 12, 2025, U.S. Marshals arrested 28-year-old Janel Tassy in Miami in connection with the fatal shooting of James Apollonio. Tassy is charged with first-degree murder. He is currently being held at the Palm Beach County Jail.
The shooting occurred at approximately 12:30 a.m. on Monday, February 3, 2025, in the 1200-block of SW 27th Avenue. Officers responded to the scene and discovered Mr. Apollonio, 54, of Daytona Beach, deceased from a gunshot wound in front of a residence. Apollonio, who was homeless, was later identified as the victim.
Tassy’s arrest follows a thorough investigation led by the Delray Beach Police Department. Detectives followed up on leads that ultimately led to his apprehension. The Delray Beach Police Department thanks the U.S. Marshals for their assistance in this case.<<
