James McCreesh of Delray Beach is facing multiple charges following an alleged road rage incident.

DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Delray Beach man driving a gray Tesla is facing multiple charges after the driver of another vehicle says the man cut him off — then became “highly irate” and attacked him with a wooden club. That man, Joseph McCreesh of River Rock Road in Delray Beach, was arrested by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office and booked into jail on February 11th. He has since been released.

According to the arrest report reviewed by BocaNewsNow.com, Deputy R. Parrales documented the events this way: “Upon arrival, I made contact with the victim, who stated he was involved in a road rage incident which began at the intersection of Polo Trace/Hagan Ranch Road. The victim stated a gray in color Tesla bearing Florida tag (redacted) ran the light and cut him off when he was traveling southbound on Hagan Ranch Road. The victim stated the driver of the Tesla was a white male later identified wearing a grayish shirt and blue shorts.

I ran a (check) of the tag provided and it yielded a registered owner of the gray Tesla as Joseph McCreesh. The victim stated McCreesh became highly irate and began following him and driving aggressively towards his vehicle. The victim stated the white male followed him into the parking lot of the Chevron Gas Station, located at 7533 Atlantic Avenue. The victim stated McCreesh parked at pump #9, at which time McCreesh exited his vehicle with a wooden club type stick in his hand.

The victim stated he feared for his safety and attempted to block the suspect who was swinging in the club in an erratic style in an attempt to strike him. The victim stated McCreesh grabbed his left side shirt collar, while actively swinging the club. The victim stated at which point the suspect shoved him causing him to fall onto the ground near a parked vehicle. The victim stood back up after the fall, at which point the suspect continued to come towards him in an aggressive manner. The suspect then came near the back of a Nissan Rogue. The suspect is seen striking the rear window causing two distinctive holes to the rear glass. The suspect then reenters his vehicle exiting the parking lot and fleeing westbound on Atlantic avenue. The interaction was video recorded by a bystander who texted to the video to (PBSO). I viewed the video and verified the incident.”

Joseph McCreesh, 77, was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault on a person 65 years of age or older, criminal mischief, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail and later released pending a court date. An order of “no contact” has been issued between McCreesh and the victim.
