UPDATE: Dixie Highway just reopened as of 5:20 p.m., according to police.
BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A critical crash Thursday afternoon in Boca Raton left at least two people critically injured and a roadway closed down. Dixie Highway is shut near the 1400 block due to the multi-car wreck.
According to information provided to BocaNewsNow.com from first responders, at least two elderly patients sustained trauma-level injuries in the wreck. One sustained a partial foot amputation. Both sustained serious bone and limb injuries. They were rushed to Delray Medical Center, the area’s trauma center.
Boca Raton Police remain on the scene as of 3:30 p.m. as the investigation is now underway. It was not immediately clear how many other vehicles were involved, what caused the crash, or who may be at fault. We also do not know the vehicle types at this point. Expect traffic in the area to be significant through the afternoon rush. We will update as soon as we receive official information from Boca Raton PD.
