UPDATE AT 6:42 p.m. — PBSO just told us that the Cadillac Escalade was being driven by Katherine Elizabeth Fernandez Robles of Blue Fin Trail in Boca Raton. According to investigators: “The Escalade was traveling Westbound on Palmetto Park Road in the outside travel lane passing Hammock Street. The unidentified (as of now) victim was operating an electric scooter traveling westbound on Palmetto Park Road in the outside travel lane passing Hammock Street. The scooter operator’s actions are undetermined at this time.

The Escalade driver attempted to swerve to the left to avoid impacting the scooter operator. The front passenger side headlight assembly of the Escalade impacted the scooter operator. As the crash ensued, the scooter operator struck the bottom right corner of the windshield. The scooter operator was then thrown to the right onto the grass shoulder. Robles brought the Escalade to a controlled stop.” She remained on the scene.

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A man either walking or on some sort of a bike or scooter was struck and killed by a vehicle in the area of Palmetto Park Road and Hammock Street — just west of U.S. 441 — Thursday afternoon. We are awaiting official details from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, but here’s what BocaNewsNow.com has learned from witnesses and First Responders.

The man was struck by a black Cadillac around 1 p.m. It is unknown at this point whether the driver of the Cadillac had the right of way, or the pedestrian. The person who was struck immediately fell to the ground in the street as heavy traffic in the area tried to circumvent the scene, then ultimately stopped.

PBSO and Palm Beach County Fire Rescue rushed to the scene and attempted emergency life saving procedures. The man, however, was declared dead just after 1:20 p.m. No other person was reportedly injured in the incident.

The intersection was shut for part of the afternoon. The investigation continues as of 6 p.m. Thursday. We will update this report once we receive official information from PBSO which tends to provide details quickly. We ask anyone with additional information or photos from the scene to text BocaNewsNow.com at 561-576-NEWS (6397) or email news (at) bocanewsnow.com.
