UPDATE @ 8:26 p.m. — The standoff continues. The man is identified as a man with a mental health and civil history in the Palm Beach County court system.

DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A standoff that started this morning between a resident and police at Midtown Delray Apartments continues Wednesday afternoon. As of 2 p.m., the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office remains on the scene of 2216 Bloods Grove Circle with a man who witnesses say is threatening to blow himself up.

The police presence, according to witnesses, has grown over the past few hours, with a SWAT team standing by and what are described as “snipers” on area roofs, watching the scene. No one is permitted in the apartment complex, according to people at the scene.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s has not provided details as the scene remains active. We are limiting what we are reporting as to not compromise tactical positioning. The suspect has not been officially identified. It is unclear if this is a mental health situation or a criminal situation that took a bad turn.

Bloods Grove Circle is just south of Linton Boulevard, east of Military Trail. Traffic on Linton is not affected, but entrances to the community are blocked, according to residents reaching out to BocaNewsNow.com. Check back for updates.
