BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A West Boca Raton teen was seriously injured Tuesday night while riding a scooter in the area of Mission Bay. The teen — who we are only identifying as a 13-year-old male — was rushed to Delray Medical Center as a “trauma alert.”

According to information obtained by BocaNewsNow.com, the teen was riding the scooter in the 10300 block of Diego Drive South in Boca Raton. That is just south of Glades Road and west of U.S. 441. It’s very close to Boca Prep International School. The teen was struck by a car.

Sources tell BocaNewsNow.com that the teen did not lose consciousness but couldn’t immediately remember everything that happened. Police confirm to BocaNewsNow.com that this is being handled by a road deputy and not PBSO’s traffic homicide unit. That suggests that the striking motorist remained on the scene, that this is only considered to be an accident, and that criminal charges are unlikely.

The incident was first reported around 6:40 p.m. Mulitple fire rescue units rushed to the scene and were assisting the teen within just a few minutes. It is unclear who is considered to be at fault.
