Jason Wasloff, whose arrest and subsequent firing from the Palm Beach County School District was covered by BocaNewsNow.com when it happened, is now facing a DUI charge.
Wasloff, according to an arrest report obtained by BocaNewsNow.com, was stopped around 1:20 a.m Wednesday in the area of Pipers Glenn and Golf Road on South Military Trail — near the Cascade Lakes community. Wrote the arresting Deputy:
”I observed a white SUV traveling southbound at a high rate of speed past Golf Road, which I estimated to be approximately 60 miles per hour. (Radar) captured the vehicle traveling at 64 mph, then increasing to 67 mph as it passed me … I activated my emergency lights. The vehicle stopped on Flavor Pict Road after making a right turn.
Upon making contact with the driver on the front passenger side, later identified as Jason Wasloff, I observed that his eyes were red and immediately detected an unknown alcoholic odor. I asked Jason for his driver’s license, which he provided. When I requested his vehicle registration, Jason checked his wallet, then searched his glove box, and checked his wallet again. I then walked to the from driver’s side of the vehicle where I continued to notice the same alcoholic odor and Jason’s red eyes. Jason attempted to check his glove box again for the registration, prompting me to ask why he was doing so after we had already confirmed there were no documents inside. As Jason was trying to gather the information I asked him, I noticed that his actions and movements were slow.
I then had Jason step out of the vehicle to speak with me outside. During our conversation, I detected a strong smell of alcohol emanating from his face and breath. Jason stated he had been at Miller’s Ale House, where he consumed food and had a drink.”
A trained DUI investigator was summoned to the scene who had Jason perform a number of field sobriety exercises. The report states that Jason had trouble completing some of the exercises. He later provided breath samples that were, according to police, .131 and .118. The legal limit in Florida is .08.
Jason Wasloff, of Majestic Pine Court in Delray Beach, was arrested and booked into the Palm Beach County Jail on a charge of DUI. Bond is set at $1,000. He remained locked up as of 5:15 p.m. Wednesday — more than twelve hours after his arrest. We note that Jason — the fired teacher — told police he now owns an aquarium service.
