Operation Green Light

More Than One Thousand Local Residents Now Driving Legally Again…

Operation Green Light
Operation Green Light helped more than 1000 people in Palm Beach County get back on the road. Legally.

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A huge number of drivers who may have been driving illegally are now good to go, thanks to Operation Green Light and the Palm Beach County Clerk of Courts. Operation Green Light was again a huge success in PBC. Here is the official announcement shared with BocaNewsNow.com:

>> The Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller, Palm Beach County, helped more than 1,000 people get back on the road legally and collected more than $407,000 in overdue fines and fees during its 2025 Operation Green Light event.

The Clerk’s office waived the 25 percent collection agency fees on overdue Palm Beach County cases during Operation Green Light, which took place from March 3 to March 7. During that week, the Clerk’s office:

  • Collected $407,551.21 in unpaid fines and fees;
  • Reinstated 211 driver’s licenses;
  • Made 998 customers eligible to reinstate their driver’s licenses; and
  • Established 699 payment plans.

“We are proud of the number of people we helped get back on the road to driving legally during this year’s Operation Green Light,” said Joseph Abruzzo, Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller for Palm Beach County. “Operation Green Light ensures that people with overdue court fines and fees are paying what they owe, while giving them a helping hand by waiving additional collection agency fees and giving people the option to pay their fines in full or establish a flexible repayment plan that lets them pay what they can afford each month.”

The annual event, which started in Palm Beach County in November 2014 and expanded statewide the following year, allows anyone with unpaid fines and fees an opportunity to pay their overdue tickets, court fines and fees without paying additional collection agency fees.

Florida law requires the Clerk’s office to turn over unpaid tickets and other outstanding court fines and fees to an outside collection agency if the debt is not paid within 90 days of the due date. Those who don’t pay also have their driver license suspended.
