Barbara Riemer has been principal of the school for nearly a decade. The school district sent this message to parents of Whispering Pines Elementary School students just after school ended on Monday:

“Whispering Pines Elementary School families: We are beginning the process of selecting the next principal for Whispering Pines Elementary School and invite you to be part of the conversation. A community meeting for families will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, from 4:00 to 5:00 PM, in the school’s media center. You will have the opportunity to participate either in person or online. During this meeting, I will gather your input on the qualities and priorities that matter most to you in a school leader. This feedback will help guide the selection process.”

Norman Riemer
Norman Riemer remains held without bond in the Palm Beach County Jail. The Palm Beach County School District science specialist, and husband of now ex-Whispering Pines Principal Barbara Riemer, is charged with multiple counts of child molestation.

Norman Riemer, Barbara Riemer’s husband and a science specialist in the school district, was arrested Wednesday night and charged with multiple counts of molesting two children who were frequently in the Riemer’s Lake Worth home. The repeated molestation allegedly took place over a year. Norman Riemer is being held without bond in the Palm Beach County Jail. BocaNewsNow.com broke the story early Thursday, leading the school district to quickly announce that he was in the process of being terminated.

Barbara Riemer’s leave of absence was announced just after BocaNewsNow.com reported that Norman was substitute teaching in Whispering Pines after the Riemers were aware of a criminal investigation. The Palm Beach County School District, which did not immediately respond to our request for confirmation, said Monday that Norman Riemer was not subbing. “He may have visited campus, but he was not there on District business.”

Also Monday, BocaNewsNow.com reported that a special needs “paraprofessional” at Whispering Pines Elementary was arrested by Boca Raton Police in mid-April on a charge of DUI. Parents who were aware of the arrest, according to sources, repeatedly asked Barbara Riemer to remove Nepthalie Duclas from interaction with students while her criminal case worked through the courts. Riemer allegedly refused, and did not inform the school district of her employee’s arrest.
