BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The extreme drought plaguing Palm Beach County continues Saturday. The National Weather Service says that while there is rain in the forecast, there is no immediate indication that the drought situation will resolve over the next several days. The darker the color in the map above, the more severe the drought condition.

Despite the drought conditions, there is currently no burn ban in effect for Palm Beach County. Burn bans, however, are in effect for Hendry, Charlotte, Desoto, Hardee, Hillsborough, Brevard, Orange, Pasco, Hernando, Citrus, Volusia, and Flagler Counties. Palm Beach County Fire Rescue is discouraging open fires in the area, but fires are permitted.

The drought is causing fire problems. Card Sound Road and U.S. 1 have reopened in South Miami-Dade/North Monroe County after nearly 36 hours of closures — blocking access to and from the Florida Keys. Several forest and brush fires continue to burn in the state.

The National Weather Service says thunderstorms or showers are possible Sunday, Sunday night, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
