BY: ANDREW COLTON | Editor and Publisher | BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Former Whispering Pines Elementary School Principal Barbara Riemer is expected to be a witness against her husband who faces five counts of molesting two young girls who frequented the home he and his wife share.

Norman Riemer was arrested in late April on five counts of “lewd and lascivious molestation of a child less than 12 years of age” and immediately suspended from his teaching job with the Palm Beach County School District. Barbara Riemer took a “leave of absence” shortly after BocaNewsNow.com broke the story of her husband’s arrest. School District officials said a short time later that Barbara Riemer will not return to the elementary school in West Boca Raton.

BocaNewsNow.com on Wednesday obtained a motion by Norman Riemer’s defense attorneys seeking his release from the Palm Beach County Jail where he is being held without bond. In that motion, star defense attorneys Tyler DiMaio and Michelle Suskauer reveal that Barbara Riemer is a witness for the State of Florida.

“The State has charged Mr. Riemer with five (5) counts of Lewd and Lascivious Molestation – Victim Less Than 12 Years of Age / Offender 18 or Older. The charged offenses are considered life felonies. On May 1, 2025, Mr. Riemer appeared at First Appearance but was not given a bond.

Mr. Riemer is fifty-four (54) years old with no prior criminal history. He has been a resident of Palm Beach County his entire adult life, teaching within the local school district and raising a family with his wife. Mr. Riemer became aware of the allegations and their severity prior to his arrest. Through undersigned counsel, Mr. Riemer was immediately in contact with the lead detective to arrange his surrender. When law enforcement made contact with Mr. Riemer, he was fully compliant and cooperative. At no point did he leave Palm Beach County. Indeed, he is not a flight risk.

Mr. Riemer’s wife is considered a State’s witness; and therefore, Mr. Riemer may not have contact with her. Mrs. Riemer wishes to have contact with her husband to discuss matters not related to the pending case. Mrs. Riemer’s involvement in this case has been voluntary, with her husband’s knowledge. Mr. Riemer and his wife live alone in Palm Beach County. If contact was permitted, and in-house arrest release was granted, Mr. Riemer would be able to comply with PBSO’s requirements like installing a landline. The allegations are not connected or related to Mr. Reiner’s prior employment in anyway.”

Norman Riemer, according to multiple sources, was seen in Whispering Pines Elementary School in the days prior to his arrest. While some sources stated that he was substitute teaching, the Palm Beach County School District told BocaNewsNow.com that he was there in an “unofficial capacity.” Questions remain about when Norman Riemer’s wife, Principal Barbara Riemer, knew that her husband was under investigation for molesting children — and why she would have permitted him to enter her elementary school after the allegations were made.

Home Equity Loan information obtained by BocaNewsNow.com suggests that both Norman and Barbara Riemer were expecting significant bills — likely legal bills — in the days prior to Norman’s arrest. They obtained a home equity loan for more than $100,000 on their Lake Worth house just days before Norman was taken into custody. Like most loans, Home Equity Loans can take several days — or weeks — for processing and approval, suggesting that Barbara Riemer knew of the allegations against her husband during the time period he was allegedly seen in Whispering Pines Elementary.
