BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — There is video of a child allegedly being seriously injured on a Palm Beach County School District school bus — at least that’s the claim of two parents who have retained a Boca Raton law firm to force the school district to release it. The petition demanding the video was just filed in Palm Beach County Circuit Court.

According to the document obtained by BocaNewsNow.com, Justin and Sierra Mahoney say their son was on the school bus on January 24, 2025 when their son, a minor, “was disembarking the bus to go to school. (That’s when) another child accidentally knocked their son over, causing him to strike his head on the ground and sustain a severe laceration requiring stitches. At all times material hereto, there was a video which captured the incident, as well as an incident report about the incident.”

For reasons that remain unclear, the Palm Beach County School District has apparently refused to release the video and the report to the parents who are now seeking access through a court order.

“The video of the incident and the incident report are critical evidence and must be preserved so as to allow appropriate inspection and copying of these materials,” wrote the Mahoney’s attorney. “Petitioners further seek an order compelling (the Palm Beach County School District) to provide them with an unredacted incident report, all statements of witnesses, a copy of the video incident, and any other materials which would help identify the child who knocked the child over. Failure to do so would severe prejudice petitioners in their investigation of this accident.”

The Palm Beach County School District had not responded to the petition as of early Friday morning. The Mahoneys are represented by Attorney Kerri C. Smith of Boca Raton.
