We Asked Months Ago When The 77-Year-Old Works. We’re Still Waiting For An Answer. What do you know?

BY: ANDREW COLTON | Editor and Publisher | BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Anne M. Gannon, the 77-year-old “Constitutional Tax Collector” of Palm Beach County, may or may not work hours expected of a full time Palm Beach County employee. First elected to the position in 2006, tipsters say Gannon is now rarely seen at work — raising questions about what she’s doing and when she’s doing it. Gannon earns more than $170,000 a year. She was reelected to her position in November.
BocaNewsNow.com, in an effort to clarify when Gannon works and where she works, filed multiple public information requests over the past several months for her time sheets or similar records. Quite simply, we wanted to know when she gets to an office and when she leaves. If she is working remotely, we wanted to know when she logs in for the day, and when she logs out. But after a multi-month delay, Palm Beach County officials said it may be a “security risk” to release such information and continue to withhold proof that she’s actually working. A second public records request filed directly with her office several months ago wasn’t answered until late Tuesday afternoon. The response: a request for more information about our request. A query for the same information to her spokesperson — Jeffrey Vortolomei — also went unanswered.

Several people with knowledge of Palm Beach County government operations suggest that Gannon’s leadership may not be what it once was. Gannon’s Palm Beach County offices that handle motor vehicle licenses and registrations are backlogged by weeks — with most in-person services now requiring online reservations that are booking at least four weeks out. A test reservation made Tuesday for a drivers license replacement yielded mid-July appointments countywide. (See the screen shot, above).
Gannon’s proposed new mega-tax collector’s office on Lyons Road in Delray Beach — on land surrounded by a church and residential communities — is about to cost Palm Beach County big bucks. Lawyers are preparing to sue Anne Gannon over the controversial proposal in what may become a years-long effort stop it. Questions posed to Gannon by BocaNewsNow.com on that initiative two months ago also remain unanswered.

I had a 1 pm reservation to renew my drivers license on June 13. I checked in on time and was told it was a 40 minute wait. It turned out to be more than that.
I went in om my appointment on June 2, my appt was for 1:40, i was told to sit and wait for them to call my number, at 2:10 my number was called, the woman who took care of me was “STORMY” very nice and helpful i was getting the new License with the star, I was done and out the door at 2:45 exactly, no problems very easy for me on a Monday. So i guess it depends on day of the week and how many reservations, and how many clerks working,Dan
Maybe they have her signature on an Auto Pen!
SHAME on you! Milk cartons are associated with missing kids: Gannon is not a kid nor missing in the context of children.
SENSATIONALISTIC; CHEAP-SHOT JOURNALISM; INTELLECTUALLY INSULTING. CURSES ON BOCA NEWS!
Wow, Robert. Seems you trigger VERY easily. I suggest heading to your fridge, grab that milk carton you have on the top shelf, check to see if Gannon’s picture is on it, and pour yourself a tall, cold glass. I suggest pairing it with a few OREO cookies and about 2 Xanax to calm down.
Does’t pass the smell test, is this individual even alive—-who’s making the decisions ? Somebody gets away with it in Washington, soo let’s try it here ?
Maybe she is too busy spending all our tax dollars to actually work.Tax is theft. Repeal property taxes in Palm Beach County. Add a 1% sales tax as an offset. Seniors should not have to pay school taxes (70% of the tax amount). They no longer have children utilizing the system.
What a hypocrite. You have no problem everyone paying taxes when you have kids in school, but the minute they graduate, you seek the right not to contribute. Sad.
My biggest problem is PROPERTY TAXES. We can’t blame Ann she is only involved collecting the taxes as far as I know.
Fix the unfair property tax scheme and 90% of the problems go away.
1. Charge all property owner; non-profit, religious, schools, etc., for use of county & city services. Maybe not the same as residents & commercial, but something.
2. Remove exemptions that reduce the final bills to so low. Especially on those of higher income.
Thank you Greg
The school tax has morphed into a branch of welfare.
Providing meals year round has nothing to do with education.
Today is June 19th. Today is Juneteeth, a national holiday. The PBC Tax Collectors website indicates that they are open all day today. Google also claims that they are open.
I needed to update my DL and imagine my surprise when I found the Delray office closed. They could not even bother to put a sign on the door.
You are right… Where is Anne Gannon?
