BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The Original Brooklyn Water Bagel Company at 22191 Powerline Road in Boca Raton just received multiple “high priority,” “intermediate” and “basic” violations filed by a health inspector reporting to the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation. Among the issues: flying insects “landing on bagel boards” and in the “bagel prep area.” That led to an “administrative complaint.”
The Original Brooklyn Water Bagel Company was not ordered to close. Per BocaNewsNow.com policy, the following is the unedited list of violations logged and filed by the inspector:
High Priority – Live, small flying insects found. Approximately 5 small flying insects observed landing on bagel boards and bagel ingredient container in bagel prep area. Operator eliminated insects and sanitized surfaces. **Corrected On-Site** **Admin Complaint**
High Priority – Quaternary ammonium sanitizer not at proper minimum strength for manual warewashing at 3 compartment sink. Do not use equipment/utensils not properly sanitized. Tested at 0 ppm. Operator discarded solution. **Warning**
Intermediate – Handwash sink used for purposes other than handwashing. Handwashing sink in bagel prep area used to store spray bottle and wiping cloth. Operator removed items. **Corrected On-Site** **Warning**
Basic – Ceiling/ceiling tile shows damage or is in disrepair above bagel prep walk in cooler door. **Warning**
The June 17th inspection was followed by a second inspection on June 18th where no violations were logged by the inspector. This location was ordered closed on October 17, 2024 for multiple violations including flying insects. It was permitted to reopen the following day.

No excuse for not having your restaurant pass a health inspection.
Clearly they are not managed well.
