BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — What seemed like a major crash that closed Palmetto Park Road for quite a while Friday afternoon turned out to be a one car crash with only minor injuries to the driver. The crash on Palmetto Park Road near Boca Rio Road led to a huge police and fire rescue response. Many BocaNewsNow.com readers shared information from the scene.
Witnesses told BocaNewsNow.com that a car crashed into a pole and someone died. Only part of that is true. A vehicle did apparently slam into an FPL pole leading to concerns about power lines in the area, but the driver only sustained minor injuries. The driver, according to officials, was able to get of the vehicle on her own.
It’s unclear what led to the driver to lose control of her car, exit Palmetto Park Road and end up in an electric pole near Boca Rio Road. A police investigation is underway. Traffic was at a standstill for nearly an hour as rescuers, police, and FPL workers secured the scene.
There is no information as of Friday evening about the identity of the driver or the vehicle involved. Check back for updates over the weekend.
