DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A shooting that left two people injured led to the arrest of a Delray Beach man. Delray Beach Police issued this statement just after 6 p.m. on Friday:

>> The Delray Beach Police Department announces the arrest of Hecare Garcia, DOB: 3-19-96. He faces charges of aggravated assault with a firearm and discharging a firearm from a vehicle. On Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at approximately 4:19 p.m., Delray Beach police responded to a call reporting shots fired outside a residence at 802 SW 10th Avenue. Two adult males, ages 18 and 20, were shot and treated for their injuries at a local hospital.

Through investigative efforts, officers determined that a silver Toyota Camry, driven by a Hispanic male, had driven past the home and fired several gunshots at a group of people standing outside. On Wednesday, July 30, 2025, the Camry was located at the Publix parking lot at 1690 S. Federal Highway in Delray Beach. Garcia was observed getting back into the vehicle and was taken into custody. He was found in possession of a 9mm firearm.

Garcia was taken to the Delray Beach Police Department, where he was read his Miranda rights and agreed to speak with detectives.  Garcia stated that the shooting outside the home on SW 10th Avenue was in retaliation for an earlier incident on Monday, July 28, 2025, at the Island Cove Apartments located at 925 SW 13th Avenue, where someone allegedly attempted to shoot him. That case remains under investigation. Garcia was transported to the Palm Beach County jail. Anyone with additional information about either of the shootings is asked to contact Detective John Caceres at 561-243-7871.

“I want to commend our detectives for their hard work and dedication in locating the suspect in this case. Community safety remains our top priority, and we will continue to work tirelessly to strengthen our partnership with residents and visitors, while upholding the highest standards of public safety,” said Delray Beach Interim Police Chief Darrell Hunter. <<
