Witnesses tell BocaNewsNow.com that several people were on the pontoon that flipped early just before noon. The pontoon, according to those witnesses, was speeding “excessively” and not respecting rules and regulations on the body of water.

It’s not immediately clear if Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officers responded to the scene to issue citations, or if citations were issued by the City of Boca Raton Police Department which also operates a marine unit. We will publish identities of those involved once they are received by our news desk.

We are also awaiting an update from Boca Raton Fire Rescue about the agency’s involvement in the rescue operation.
