Cops Nab Alleged Hit And Run Driver After Delray Beach Crash

DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — An alleged hit and run driver is in custody Wednesday night, according to the Delray Beach Police Department which issued this advisory to BocaNewsNow.com:

>> A Delray Beach man has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run crash that left a pedestrian seriously injured on July 20, 2025.

Dwayne Howard, 46, was taken into custody by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s deputies on August 5. He faces charges of hit and run, reckless driving , and obstructing justice.

The crash happened on July 20 at 12:40 a.m. at the intersection of W. Atlantic Avenue and SW. 5th Avenue. Howard was driving westbound in a red Chevy Caprice when he struck a pedestrian, who was standing on the concrete median. After the impact, Howard fled the scene by turning south on SW 5th Avenue.  The 58-year old male victim suffered traumatic injuries and is currently recovering. The suspect’s vehicle was later recovered in Broward County.
