>> On August 14, 2025 at about 1310 hours, I was conducting patrol in the area of SW 3rd Street and S. State Rd 7 located in unincorporated Boca Raton, Palm Beach County, FL. I observed a black Jeep SUV bearing a FL temporary tag traveling northbound. The Jeep had darkened license plate cover, obstructing the tag. I also observed the driver to be a white female who l recognized to be Barabara D. Shortt, DOB: 01/xx/1976. I am familiar with Shortt based upon a profuse amount of law enforcement encounters, arrests, and investigations.

I additionally had previous knowledge of the following regarding Shortt: Shortt had a revoked driver’s license and was classified as a habitual traffic offender by the State of Florida on 12/19/2022 for a period of 5 years. This indicated that Shortt operating a motor vehicle is a felony offense until December 2027. Additionally, I knew Shortt to be on felony probation out of Broward County, FL for a period of 18 months, ending Nov. 27, 2026. She was placed on felony probation 05/28/2025. This information was independently confirmed via FCIC and the FL Department of Corrections database.

I activated my emergency red/blue emergency lights to indicate a traflie stop. Shortt pulled over and I conducted a passenger side approach. I asked for her driver’s license to which she replied she has a had a revoked license for several years. Shortt then exited the vehicle and was detained in handeuffs behind her back (checked for proper fit and double locked).

She was placed in the backseat of my patrol car. Based on th above facts, I had probable cause to arrest and charge Barbara Shortt with Driving While Habitual Traffic Offender pursuant to FS$ 322.34(5) and felony Violation of Probation pursuant to FSS 948.06. She was additionally issued a citation for Driving while Habitual. <<
