BROWARD COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Smoke from wildfires burning in the Everglades is causing traffic issues in Broward County, including the north Broward communities of Coconut Creek and Coral Springs. The National Weather Service issued an advisory early Wednesday:
”Smoke from inland wildfires is currently impacting portions of metro Broward County early this morning. Visiblities along roadways may be reduced to 5 miles or less at times where smoke is densest. Northwesterly wild flow today is expected to continue advecting smoke across this region. Motorists should exercise caution along smoky roadways.”
While FDOT cameras as of 7 a.m. did not reveal severe visibility problems, a heat advisory is in effect for Wednesday. The extreme heat and humidity may prevent the smoke from dissipating quickly.
Anyone with breathing issues or severe allergies is advised to stay in air conditioned spaces during the day if you live or work on the west side of Broward County or South Palm Beach County.
