BOYNTON BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Coconut Creek woman with an 11-year-old child in her car allegedly hit a Palm Beach County School District school bus, smelled like alcohol, and then refused to submit to a breath test. Megan Champion of Coral Tree Circle is now facing multiple charges filed by the Boynton Beach Police Department.

BocaNewsNow.com obtained the arrest report which states that multiple witnesses saw Champion in her Lexus driving erratically in the area of Citrus Park Boulevard and Lawrence Road last Friday afternoon. That’s when she allegedly slammed the left side of the yellow school bus. The impact was so hard that multiple airbags deployed in Champion’s car.

“I observed Champion (who appeared) drowsy, lethargic, glassy eyes, her pupils extremely constricted and she seemed like she was going to fall asleep,” wrote a Boynton Beach Police Officer in the incident report.

According to a witness, Chamption’s Lexus was traveling northbound on Lawrence Road at a slow speed and swerving several times between two lanes prior to the accident. The Lexus then made a sharp left turn at the intersection and struck the yellow Palm Beach County School District school bus which had no students on board. The driver was not seriously injured.

Megan Champion was allegedly unable to explain to police what happened. She stumbled when she exited her vehicle was “agitated and emotional” and would not comply with police or answer questions. Champion failed to complete field sobriety exercises and later refused to provide a breath sample. That can result in an automatic one year license suspension.
