Crash Slowed Turnpike In Boynton Beach Sunday Afternoon. New Details…

BOYNTON BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The fatal crash that caused major traffic problems Sunday afternoon on the Florida Turnpike near Boynton Beach Boulevard was actually a suicide, according to information obtained by BocaNewsNow.com. Investigators tell us that a body was found next to the crash scene with a self-inflicted bullet wound.
While we do not traditionally report on suicides, a multi-vehicle crash where a body is found on the Florida Turnpike with a self-inflicted bullet is unquestionably newsworthy.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, a tractor trailer and two other vehicles were at rest on the Turnpike when a Palm Beach County Fire Rescue Lieutenant discovered that one of the drivers involved in the crash was unresponsive next to his vehicle, with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. A firearm was also found right next to the victim.
Fire Rescue paramedics determined that, “the injury was not survivable and called it a fatal at the scene.”
The victim has not yet been publicly identified. It remains unclear whether the driver shot himself, opened the door, and fell out causing the crash, or if the gunshot was self-inflicted after the crash. We will update our reporting as the investigation continues.
