BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Several railroad crossings are closed — or will be closed — in East Boca Raton over the next several weeks. The City of Boca Raton announced the closures on Wednesday.
Maintenance work on the ever-problematic crossings, where arms are constantly stuck in the wrong position, is expected to continue through early November. While the closings are not expected to run 24/7 for weeks, they lead to multi-day closures as crews work on one location, then move to the next.
As of early Thursday, October 9th, the crossing at Spanish River Boulevard and Dixie Highway is closed. Motorists are encouraged to head north to Yamato to cross over to Dixie.
(Ed. Note: we sent our email blast with this alert before our second cup of coffee — and referred to Spanish River Road. It is, of course, Spanish River Blvd. Our apologies).
