UPDATE: Hooters Management Says It Has No Idea Who This Guy Is. Not A Chef At Hooters, Despite Booking Information.

UPDATE: Hooters in Boca Raton says they have never seen this person before, despite his claim as working as a chef at the restaurant in the hours before his arrest.
BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A man who says he was working as a chef at Hooters — and drinking — in the hours before a crash is facing a DUI charge following his arrested by Boca Raton Police.
Carey Benzenberg, 55, of Deerfield Beach was arrested on October 17th at Boca Raton Regional Hospital — in the area where the crash occurred. Police say he displayed signs of impairment, including the smell of alcohol and slurred speech. At one point police say he stated that he “made a mistake drinking and driving and will own it.”
Benzenberg, according to police, had issues completing field sobriety exercises, then provided breath samples that registered .199, .169 and .169. The legal limit in Florida is .08. According to his claim in the report, Benzenberg was working as a chef at Hooters in Boca Raton and acknowledged drinking several hours before the incident, then eating just a bagel. (Again, Hooters says he is not a chef at their restaurant).

Benzenberg was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail and later released on $1,000 bond. A court date is pending.
