UPDATE: Delray Beach Police told BocaNewsNow.com Sunday afternoon that this was a suicide. No vehicle was involved.

DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — One person is dead following an incident involving a train on the Brightline tracks near Dixie Highway and Linton Boulevard. Although it is unclear early Saturday if the train involved was a Brightline train, the incident occurred around 12:10 a.m. — around the time a Brightline train would normally be passing through the area.

Police and rescuers were called to the scene at Linton and Dixie and found the victim dead. It was unclear if the victim was in a vehicle or on the ground. The victim has not been identified.

Brightline is considered the deadliest train operation in the United States, as South Floridians seem incapable of respecting train crossing signals and signs. Brightline-related deaths are common as drivers attempt to rush through downed gates — or just sit on the track in an effort to commit suicide.

We’ll update this report once we receive details from the Delray Beach Police Department.
