BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A major intersection in Boca Raton was closed Thursday morning after a woman jumped into a canal. The closure continued for roughly 45 minutes. The woman was rescued.

The intersection of Yamato Road and Broken Sound Boulevard was closed around 9:50 Thursday morning. BocaNewsNow.com has learned that a woman was seen jumping into a canal in the area. Boca Raton Police were called to the scene as well as Boca Raton Fire Rescue. First responding rescuers shut the intersection as they tried to locate the woman — and then rescue her.

Boca Raton Fire Rescue professionals did locate the woman and pulled her to safety. She was rushed to an area hospital for treatment. It was not immediately clear why she jumped into the canal or if she sustained any significant injuries.

The intersection is open as of 11:15 a.m.
