
BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A 60-year-old Boca Raton man is facing charges of domestic battery by strangulation, and “burglary with assault or battery,” after an alleged violent encounter on October 28th. Suspect Richard Powers, of the 1400 block of SW 8th Street, was arrested and booked into jail on November 12th.
According to a police report obtained by BocaNewsNow.com, arriving officers were told by the victim that she was in her car in the driveway when Powers approached, opened her door, and allegedly “grabbed her by the hair and pulled her out of the vehicle onto the ground.” The alleged attack reportedly happened at approximately 9:54 p.m.
Once she was on the ground, Powers allegedly “grabbed her by the neck and obstructed her airway,” according to the police report. The victim told police she tried to get up but was “forced back down causing a small abrasion to her left knee.”

Police observed “slight redness to [the victim’s] neck as well as the abrasion to her left knee which was bleeding.” The victim refused medical attention at the scene. Officers were initially unable to locate Richard Powers but later obtained a warrant and took him into custody on Wednesday of this week. He remains held on $6,000 bond.
