BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Something smelly at Jersey Mike’s in Boca Raton led to Fire Rescue and Hazardous Materials squads responding to the restaurant twice in two days.

BocaNewsNow.com has learned that Boca Raton Fire Rescue rushed to the Jersey Mike’s at 1200 West Yamato Road around 2 p.m. on Friday and then today — Saturday — at 1:28 p.m. The issue both times: a smell of gas. It turns out it wasn’t the food or anyone who ate the food, and it also apparently wasn’t a gas leak.

During both responses, fire officials determined that someone using a saw — apparently a gas powered saw — inside the building was responsible for the gas smell. It’s unclear why Jersey Mike’s employees — after learning the cause on Friday — called 911 again on Saturday.

Responses for gas odors are big deals in Palm Beach County, with fire trucks, medical profesionals, and hazmat teams assigned to the call.
