DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Delray Beach woman is facing felony drug charges and theft counts after police say she turned a late-night trip to Target into a crime spree involving stolen apparel and crystal methamphetamine. Rachel Von Hagen, 50, of Vivaldi Lane in Delray was taken into custody at the retailer’s West Linton Blvd location after Asset Protection officers allegedly recognized her as a “known retail theft offender.” They say she had previously been involved in thefts at a Lake Park store.

According to the arrest report obtained by BocaNewsNow.com, loss prevention agents maintained visual contact with Von Hagen as she walked through the store, watching her enter the fitting rooms to allegedly conceal merchandise inside her black-and-white purse. Police say she removed her gray jacket and placed it over the handbag to hide the theft of clothing and an electronics charger. Before heading to the exit, Von Hagen reportedly selected two cups of ice cream; while she paid for the frozen treats at the register, she allegedly attempted to leave the store without paying for the concealed items in her bag.

When police officers stopped Von Hagen outside the store, they noted she appeared nervous and spoke with a “tremulous” voice while repeatedly asking them to review security footage. A search of her purse reportedly revealed multiple items of clothing with price tags still attached, along with a black container holding small powdery crystals, aluminum foil with burn marks, and a mint container holding empty baggies. Officers on the scene conducted a field test on the crystals and the residue found in the mint container, both of which allegedly tested positive for methamphetamine.

Von Hagen was charged with possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, possession of drug paraphernalia, and retail theft. During questioning, she reportedly claimed that only her gray jacket was inside the purse, a statement police noted was “completely contradictory” to the discovery of the stolen merchandise found inside. She was subsequently booked into the Palm Beach County Jail on November 23rd and later released on more than $6,000 bond.
