COPS: So Intoxicated That Field Sobriety Test Deemed Dangerous.
DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Boynton Beach man is facing drunk driving charges after deputies found his pickup truck straddling the pavement and the grass in West Delray Beach late Sunday night. Christopher Lincoln, 56, was arrested by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office near the intersection of Linton Boulevard and Lyons Road following a caller reporting a potential impaired driver just after 10 p.m.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered a Toyota Tacoma with its engine running, parked with two wheels on the roadway and the passenger-side wheels in the grass. When asked why he was positioned halfway off the road, Lincoln, police say, could not answer and struggled to form words. The arrest report obtained by BocaNewsNow.com states that Lincoln displayed signs of severe intoxication, including slurred speech, red glassy eyes, and a strong odor of alcohol. When deputies asked him to exit the vehicle, he was allegedly unsteady on his feet and could barely stand without falling backward.
Deputies documented that Lincoln was wearing blue swim trunks which appeared to be soiled with urine, and he struggled to locate one of his sandals before staggering out of the truck. According to the police report, Lincoln was unable to provide his current address and did not know his location at the time of the stop. Due to his documented level of impairment, deputies determined that standard roadside sobriety exercises could not be safely performed.
Lincoln was taken into custody and charged with driving under the influence and refusal to submit to DUI testing after he declined to provide a breath sample. He was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail early Monday morning and later released on $1500 bond. Records indicate Lincoln has previously been charged with refusing to submit to a DUI test.
