UPDATE: Suicide In Walmart Parking Lot.

UPDATE 5:59 a.m. — PBSO confirms to BocaNewsNow.com that the incident was a suicide. A person killed himself in a vehicle in the Walmart parking lot. While we do not routinely report on suicides, the high-profile nature of this event during the late holiday shopping season at a popular 24-hour store merits coverage. Witnesses report the store, and parking lot, being surrounded by police for several hours late Tuesday night. A PBSO chopper hovered over the scene at what witnesses describe as a very low altitude for nearly half an hour.
UPDATE: The situation was resolved around 12:30 a.m. We are awaiting a full rundown of events from PBSO.
BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — We are aware of a developing — or possibly just resolved — situation at the Walmart in Boca Raton at U.S. 441 and Palmetto Park Road as of 10:45 p.m. Tuesday.
Early information — which may be incorrect — received by BocaNewsNow.com suggests a suspect in a situation that took place elsewhere took his own life in the store — or in the parking lot of the store — sometime during the 10 p.m. hour. We are reporting this tentative information due to the number of emails and calls we have received but stress it is still a developing situation and all of the information is subject to change.
A PBSO helicopter was seen over the store while FHP Troopers and PBSO deputies surrounded a portion of the Walmart property. Some witnesses claim to have heard either a gunshot or a “flash grenade” type of device. This is not confirmed.
We are awaiting official word from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office as of 10:50 p.m. and stress that this information is extremely preliminary. While we do not like to report unverified information, we know many people are concerned about the apparent size of the scene. We encourage you to stay away from West Boca Raton Walmart until police clear the area.
