BROWARD COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A clearly idiotic thief in Broward County was caught on camera — a camera right in front of him — as police say he stole a package from an apartment in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea. Here’s what cops say happened:
>>A busy delivery season took a frustrating turn when packages were stolen from outside an apartment in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea.
Around 9 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 30, video shows the thief arriving at an apartment in the 4300 block of Bougainvillea Drive in a gray SUV. The subject exits the vehicle, approaches the apartment and steals multiple packages. He then runs back to his vehicle before driving away.
Investigators are releasing the video in hopes someone recognizes the thief or the vehicle involved and can help prevent similar crimes. The subject is seen wearing a black shirt with a logo, blue or gray pants and has tattoos on each arm.
Deputies encourage residents to take extra steps to keep deliveries safe this holiday season:
• If you can, bring packages inside as soon as they arrive.
• Track deliveries so nothing sits unattended.
• Ask a neighbor or friend to grab packages if you’re away.
• Use doorbell or security cameras to deter thieves.
• Choose delivery dates when someone will be home.
