UPDATE at 12:30 p.m. Thursday: Police now tell us the person was not killed but injured and rushed to an area hospital. This was an attempted suicide.

DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Delray Beach Police and Delray Beach Fire Rescue are on the scene of a train versus pedestrian incident in the 800 block of NW 17th Avenue in Delray Beach as of 7:15 p.m. Wednesday.

BocaNewsNow.com has learned — based on very preliminary information — that one person was struck by a freight train on the CSX tracks around 6:50 this evening. It’s unknown whether this was an accident or a potential suicide attempt by the victim.

Train traffic on the CSX tracks has been halted and remains stopped as of 7:15 p.m. We have no further information regarding the victim. Initial information received in our newsroom suggests that the train was heading northbound at the time of the incident.
