Teen Was Undercover Boynton Beach Cop. Met On “Sniffies” App…

UPDATE: The official address provided by police is an address in The Oaks. However, multiple residents of The Oaks — including an apparently very unhappy real estate agent — say he no longer lives in that Boca Raton community. Both the arrest report and booking report list The Oaks address.
BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Boca Raton man is facing several felony charges after he was arrested by Boynton Beach Police for allegedly attempting to meet a minor for sex. David Scott Robertson, 62, was taken into custody on Saturday afternoon following an undercover investigation that began on a messaging application.
According to an arrest report reviewed by BocaNewsNow.com, a Boynton Beach detective was operating in an undercover capacity as a 14-year-old boy on the “Sniffies” app. Police say Robertson, using the name “Verified Cruiser,” initiated contact and continued communicating with the undercover officer even after being told the person he was messaging was a child. Investigators allege that Robertson sent a series of explicit messages detailing sexual acts he intended to perform.
The investigation culminated in a planned meeting on January 24th at Jaycee Park in Boynton Beach. Police say Robertson arrived at the park around 1:00 p.m. and began walking toward a restroom where he believed the minor was waiting for him. Instead, he was intercepted by officers and placed under arrest. Authorities noted in the report that Robertson later provided a sworn statement confirming the online contact and his intent to meet the child.

Robertson provided a residential address on Monte Vista Drive in The Oaks of Boca Raton. He is now charged with traveling to meet a minor for sex, solicitation of a minor to engage in sexual conduct, and unlawful use of a two-way communication device. He was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail on Sunday morning. He was later released on more than $150,000 bond. Court records show his first appearance is scheduled at the South County Courthouse in Delray Beach.
