A Boca Grove homeowner allegedly owes nearly $100,000 in unpaid fees and dues.

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — In the latest reminder that paying fees and dues aren’t optional when you live in a country club or HOA in Florida, the Boca Grove Country Club is suing a homeowner for nearly $100,000. If the homeowner doesn’t pay, the country club is asking a judge to let the community sell the home.

According to the lawsuit just filed in Palm Beach County Circuit Court, the association is seeking to foreclose on a condominium unit located in the “Garden in the Grove-1” section of the community. The owner: Ofelia Bukantz, who the complaint says has occupied the property since April 2022. She purchased the property for $224,900.

The problems apparently began in late 2024. While Bukantz initially remained in good standing after her purchase, the association claims she stopped making mandatory payments in September 2024. By January 2026, the Bukantz owed fees and dues of $109,392.37. Despite nearly $25,000 in various payments applied to the account, interest and administrative fees continue to make the bad situation even worse. The total balance was $94,038.38 as of the filing date.

As we report time and time again, this lawsuit highlights the mandatory fees and dues that come with living in HOA’s, COA’s, and country clubs in Florida. The Boca Grove association notes that by purchasing the unit and being accepted as a member, Bukantz entered into a contractual relationship requiring the payment of dues, assessments, and other charges.

Boca Grove is asking the court to allow the Clerk of Court to sell the property to satisfy the debt if the balance isn’t paid. In addition to the nearly six-figure debt, the association is also seeking to recover its legal costs and attorneys’ fees.
