The Boca Raton, formerly known as The Boca Resort, is facing a lawsuit over an alleged couch injury.

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Miami-Dade man is seeking a payout after claiming he was critically injured by a couch at “The Boca Raton,” formerly known as The Boca Resort. Ronald David Krauss is suing The Boca Raton, alleging the club and hotel permitted a “dangerous defective condition” to exist in its lobby.

According to the complaint filed Palm Beach County Circuit Court, the incident happened back on August 2, 2025. Krauss says he went to sit down on a couch in the lobby of the resort on Camino Real and ended up striking the back of his head on an exposed wooden frame. He says that the resort’s management failed in its duty to keep the premises safe for the public and neglected to warn guests about the hidden hard surface at the top of the seating.

Krauss claims he suffered various injuries to his body and extremities, resulting in physical and mental pain, permanent disability, and disfigurement. And using standard language that is often used in personal injury cases, attorneys for Krauss allege that the injury caused the aggravation of a pre-existing condition and led to significant medical expenses and lost wages. His attorneys say that these losses are “permanent or continuing” and will affect his life well into the future.

Krauss is represented by the Miami-based firm Ramon, Rodriguez & Herrera, LLP. The Boca Raton, LLC, had not filed a formal response as of Wednesday morning.
