BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller for Palm Beach County– Mike Caruso — is launching a week-long initiative to help residents settle overdue legal debts and regain their driving privileges. From March 2 through March 6, the office will host “Operation Green Light,” an annual program that waives the standard 25 percent collection agency fee on outstanding traffic tickets and court fines. This specific window provides a critical financial reprieve for individuals whose accounts have been flagged for non-payment.

The program serves to help those currently facing driver’s license suspensions due to unpaid debts. Under Florida law, the Clerk’s office is required to hand over unpaid citations to third-party collection agencies if they remain unpaid for more than 90 days. During this event, however, defendants can bypass those steep surcharges.

“Operation Green Light gives people a little help to pay what they owe,” said Mike Caruso, Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller for Palm Beach County, noting that the initiative is designed to help citizens drive legally again.

Participants can resolve their outstanding balances in full via online portals or by phone, avoiding the need for in-person visits in many instances. For many traffic-related cases, the Clerk’s office anticipates that driver’s licenses can be reinstated on the same day the payment is processed, significantly reducing the downtime for local commuters and workers.

Operation Green Light has a deep history in the region, having originated in Palm Beach County in 2014 before being adopted by Clerk’s offices throughout the state of Florida. While the collection fees are waived during this period, officials remind the public that the original court fines and fees must still be paid in full.
