Creative Legal Work Leads To Lawsuit Against Geoffrey Wasserman.

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A+ for effort. F for execution. That’s one potential takeaway after hearing what Stonebridge Country Club homeowner Geoffrey Wasserman allegedly did to avoid paying membership fees in the community. Stonebridge is now suing Wasserman for at least $100,000.
According to a lawsuit filed today in Palm Beach County Circuit Court, Geoffrey Wasserman is accused of breaching community covenants after he allegedly failed to purchase a required club membership when he took title to a home on Shireoaks Lane in late 2024. Attorneys for the club say that once Wasserman acquired the property through a quit-claim deed, he immediately became obligated to join the club and pay the associated entrance fees. Despite being notified of these requirements in July 2025 and receiving numerous demands for payment, the club alleges Wasserman never remitted the funds for even the least expensive membership option.
Here’s where the creativity kicks in. The club alleges in the complaint that Wasserman attempted to dodge his financial obligations by recording a subsequent quit-claim deed in August 2025 to divest himself of his interest in the property. The lawsuit characterizes this transfer as a strategic effort to avoid the mandatory fees that were triggered the moment he originally became an owner in the development.
Stonebridge is now seeking a judgment of $114,500, which covers the membership fees along with interest and costs. The club is represented by the law firm Poliakoff Backer LLP. Wasserman had not filed a response as of late Wednesday afternoon. Read the complete suit below.
