A major traffic problems continues early Monday at I-95 and 595.

UPDATE: FDOT just reported at 6 a.m. that the scene is clearing — more than four hours after it was first reported.

BROWARD COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A car fire is causing major traffic problems Monday morning at I-95 and I-595. The Florida Department of Transportation reports that all lanes are closed for traffic attempting to head south on I-95 from 595 east.

This is a major connector for people heading to Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport from points north, like Boca Raton. While I-595 east remains open, traffic is mounting as motorists attempting to head south on I-95 have no place to go. They are now being forced east towards FLL as well.

The fire was first reported around 1:30 a.m. Firefighters arrived within minutes, then Florida Highway Patrol was called to the scene arrived around 2 a.m. We’re told FHP remains actively engaged in whatever situation they found The entire scene remains active as of 5:40 a.m.

While we don’t have specifics at this point, the amount of time first responders have remained on the scene traditionally indicates that this was more than just a typical car fire. Check back for details.
