DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Delray Beach woman was arrested early Sunday morning after police say she ran a stop sign, nearly caused a crash, and was later linked to two hit-and-run incidents — all before blurting out a startling confession at the breath testing facility. Ashley Maria Kennedy, 41, of the 14000 block Canalview Drive, was taken into custody around 1:19 a.m. on April 12, 2026, and charged with DUI with a blood alcohol level of .150 or more under Florida Statute 316.193(4).

According to a Delray Beach Police probable cause affidavit obtained by BocaNewsNow.com, an officer observed Kennedy’s red Toyota CHR fail to stop at a stop sign at 400 S. Swinton Avenue, nearly colliding with another vehicle. The car failed to maintain its lane and eventually stopped near the railroad tracks at 200 SE 2nd Street. When officers made contact with Kennedy, she was described as having slurred speech, glossy red eyes, and smelled of an unknown alcoholic beverage. Officers also noted fresh damage to the front of her vehicle consistent with two hit-and-run incidents previously reported on West Linton Boulevard.

A DUI investigation was initiated, and Kennedy was administered standardized field sobriety exercises, which she was allegedly unable to complete. She was transported to the Palm Beach County Breath and Alcohol Testing facility, where — before any questioning began — she spontaneously told officers she was “f—ing drunk.” Breath test results confirmed a BAC of .233% on the first sample and .219% on a second sample taken five minutes later, both well above Florida’s legal limit of .08%.

Kennedy was booked into jail and later released on bond. A court date is pending.
