BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A huge number of wildfires are now burning across Florida. While South Florida hasn’t been hit hard — at least not yet — the continued dry weather isn’t great, and the constant breeze doesn’t help. It may feel nice outside, but it’s bad for fire containment. Palm Beach County Fire Rescue issued this alert Wednesday afternoon:
>> Palm Beach County Fire Rescue (PBCFR) has deployed two brush trucks, designed to fight wildfires, along with four firefighters to support wildfire response efforts across Florida.
This is part of a coordinated statewide response as fire activity increases across North Florida. As of last evening, there were 113 actively working wildfires covering over 14,000 acres.

Crews deployed this morning to the Florida State Fire College in Ocala, where resources are being assembled and assigned to areas of greatest need. From there, PBCFR firefighters will integrate into regional strike teams. They will be sent to support wildfire operations in North Florida, the Panhandle, or other impacted regions. This deployment is expected to last up to 10 days.
PBCFR maintains the capability to support local, regional, and statewide partners. Following the State of Florida’s request last evening, crews and equipment were mobilized within 16 hours, demonstrating PBCFR’s readiness and rapid response capability. This deployment has no impact on daily operations in Palm Beach County. The department remains fully staffed and ready to respond locally. <<
