Schuman Is Accused Of Attacking Child E-Biker In Boca Raton’s Lotus Community.
BY: ANDREW COLTON | Editor and Publisher | BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Just two days after BocaNewsNow.com reported on the appearance of prosecutorial favoritism in the child battery e-bike case involving Mitchell Schuman, the Boca Raton resident and Lotus homeowner is now facing four charges that carry a theoretical penalty of four years in jail.
Filed late Friday, Schuman, 62, is now charged with two counts of battery, one count of petit theft, and one count of criminal mischief. BocaNewsNow.com has learned that more charges may be pending. While extremely unlikely that Schuman — or anyone — would be sentenced to four years for a series of misdemeanors, the total based on Florida Statutes is four years and two months.
As BocaNewsNow.com reported on Wednedsay, several people also charged with battery in Palm Beach County on April 3rd — the day of Schuman’s incident — were jailed and have already appeared before a judge. Schuman has not seen a judge and has been living freely. Most of those arrested on April 3rd do not live in million dollars homes or work as a legal professional. Schuman, however, does live in a community of million dollar homes and is a legal professional. He was never booked or cuffed — just given a notice to appear. Then prosecutors took what seemed to be an extremely long period of time to file charges — not the case for the other, unrelated people charged with battery in poorer parts of the county.
Whether intentional or not, the appearance that Schuman was receiving special treatment was optically strong. Multiple sources within the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said their deputies did what they were supposed to do, but questioned why prosecutors were taking so long to move forward with charges that detectives and the State Attorney’s Office apparently agreed to.
Schuman is accused of throwing a water bottle at a child performing wheelies on an e-bike in the G.L. Homes community of Lotus — where both Schuman and the child live. Schuman then allegedly took the child’s cell phone and wouldn’t return it — denying the child the ability to call police or his parents. A group of adults came to the scene and helped Schuman block the boy from his phone. At least one of the adults physically restrained the child. Much of this was captured on video, below. BocaNewsNow.com has learned that charges could still be filed against the other adults. As we previously reported, this wasn’t Schuman’s first go-round with the child. We published a series of text messages where Schuman appeared to say he had taken, or tried to take, the boy’s phone back in December.
Schuman is a “claimant representative” for a New York law firm — at least he was in the years prior to this incident. The firm stripped Schuman’s face and biography from its website after we reported on the initial event. What did appear on the website is below. Schuman is now set to be arraigned next month. He remains free.

Wow! I went a read all of the related text messages now, too. This Mitchell Schuman is the real punk. So are some, but not all, of his neighbors who texted him back on that conversation. By the way, he also seems to have very poor English language skills, especially for being a legal professional. The kid probably writes better.
I cannot believe these adults! They should all be arrested! I raised 3 sons. They certainly weren’t angels – far from it- but if anyone ever f’ed with my kids the way all of these adults did to this boy, I would have had them all arrested. I would be curious to see how any of them would react if their own children were man handled, shoved, and terrorized the same way. If I were that child’s parent(s), I would file civil suits on all of those so called adults- and I am not a “sue happy” person. Utterly disgusting behavior!

This is very disturbing to watch. The adults especially Schuman took another persons property. Why isn’t that a felony? The boy had every right to retrieve his property. So what, the kids ride around and perform wheelies. I heard so many times from the woman filming complaining about the kids and how the community is responsible. Parents are responsible . What did you do as child? I don’t know but most of those people are from NY. Where was one non entitled adult to ask for the phone back give it to the kid. A child who does not have the thinking to stop and pause. You live in a gated community so the children Can run around in safety. If you donot like behavior go to your board. Move to 55 and over!
This happened because a humans ego was so big a child laughing at him caused him to have a tantrum. Physically assaulted and stole. He could have rode away. He could love himself enough to not take this as personal attack. This is about how disconnected to what life is. Insecurities and fear. Even all the other adults calling the other children idiots. I hope the adults can see how immature and callous they were all acting. Why weren’t the police called immediately !

I watched the video again. I watched it the first time it was presented. I am happy that that person who took the boys phone is now charged. To take that phone and not give it back is out and out theft. To deprive the boy of not calling his parents, is disgusting, I hope this person gets what he deserves. And the pigeon toed person, man, is next in line, who does he think he is putting his hands on a boy like that? He did this many times tru out the video. And there are other person who touched the boy holding him from walking where he wanted. This is physical abuse, attack, as well as other law being broken here.

The real question is why he wasn’t treated like the people with darker skin who get arrested all the time. I am thankful that BocaNewsNow.com stayed on this story. Short of some sort of violent offense, it doesn’t matter what the kid did. You never, ever touch a child who isn’t yours, and you certainly do not throw things at a kid. What kind of adult does that? I wondering what else is going to come against at Mitchell Schuman and the cast of characters who helped him. They all need to face charges.
absolutely shameful…every adult present should face charges! Assault, theft, false imprisonment, kidnapping, in some states, to not allow someone their phone to call for help is a FELONY, one guy said ITS RINGING, it says MOM! but no one answered her? WHY ? WHY DIDNT YOU ? you know why! you knew the consequences that were about to take place when MOM finds out! every adult there should be arrested and spend the night in jail in stripes.
