The bad news: you’re going to be spending a lot of time sitting in traffic. In Boca Raton, Delray Beach, Boynton Beach, Wellington, Lake Worth, and all over Palm Beach County, major and minor projects are going to impact your drive. With thanks to FDOT and Palm Beach County, here’s a look at what to expect this week:
INTERSTATE 95
I-95 at Boynton Beach Boulevard (Ongoing Construction)
A major $64 million interchange improvement project is underway on I-95 just north and south of Boynton Beach Boulevard, running through early 2029. Here is what drivers should expect this week:
- One lane of I-95 may be closed in each direction beginning at 8 p.m. Up to three lanes may be closed in each direction from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday through Thursday, for bridge construction and ramp widening.
- A fourth lane may be closed overnight in each direction as needed.
- The I-95 northbound exit ramp to Boynton Beach Boulevard may close from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. Detour: Take the northbound exit to Woolbright Road, east to U.S. 1, then north to Boynton Beach Boulevard.
- The I-95 southbound exit ramp to Boynton Beach Boulevard may close from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. Detour: Take the southbound exit to Gateway Boulevard, east to U.S. 1, then south to Boynton Beach Boulevard.
- The I-95 northbound entrance ramp from Boynton Beach Boulevard may close from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. Detour: East to U.S. 1 or west to Congress Avenue, then north to Gateway Boulevard.
- The I-95 southbound entrance ramp from Boynton Beach Boulevard may close from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. Detour: East to U.S. 1 or west to Congress Avenue, then south to Woolbright Road.
- The I-95 entrance and exit ramps at Boynton Beach Boulevard may have one lane closed nightly, 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. One lane remains open.
- On Boynton Beach Boulevard itself, one lane in each direction may be closed from Old Boynton Road to NW 3rd Avenue, 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday through Saturday, for bridge construction. Single-lane closures are permitted Friday and Saturday nights.
- The westbound Boynton Beach Boulevard turn lane to the I-95 southbound entrance ramp may be closed from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. Detour via W. Industrial Avenue to U-turn to eastbound Boynton Beach Boulevard.
The lane reduction and traffic shift on eastbound Boynton Beach Boulevard from just west of NW 8th Street to east of W. Industrial Avenue is expected to remain in place through late 2026. Only one I-95 ramp at the Boynton Beach Boulevard interchange is permitted to close at a time.
I-95 Ramps Safety Improvement (PGA, Indiantown, Okeechobee Ramps)
- The I-95 northbound on-ramp from eastbound Okeechobee Boulevard will be closed from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Thursday, April 30, for high friction surface installation. Contingency dates are Sunday, May 3 and Monday, May 4. Detour: East on Okeechobee Boulevard, U-turn at Parker Avenue, then west and north to the I-95 on-ramp.
I-95 Maintenance (Lantana Road to Congress Avenue)
- Northbound and southbound I-95 between Lantana Road and Congress Avenue in West Palm Beach will have up to three lanes closed for RPM replacement, 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sunday, April 26 through Thursday, April 30.
I-95 On-Ramp Closure (Atlantic Avenue, Delray Beach)
- The southbound I-95 on-ramp from westbound Atlantic Avenue in Delray Beach will be closed from 10 p.m. Sunday, May 3 through 5 a.m. Tuesday, May 5, for asphalt work. Detour: West on Atlantic Avenue, U-turn at McNab Avenue, then east to the on-ramp.
SOUTHERN PALM BEACH COUNTY
Atlantic Avenue Reconstruction (Delray Beach / Boynton Beach)
This $26 million project on Atlantic Avenue from west of U.S. 441 to just east of Florida’s Turnpike continues through Summer 2028.
- One northbound lane on U.S. 441 from Rio Grande Avenue to just south of Atlantic Avenue may be closed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and from 8:30 p.m. to 7 a.m., Monday through Friday/Thursday, for widening and signalization work.
- One northbound lane from just north of Atlantic Avenue to Tivoli Isles Boulevard on the same schedule.
- One southbound lane from Tivoli Isles Boulevard to just north of Atlantic Avenue from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. to 7 a.m., Monday through Thursday.
- One southbound lane from just south of Atlantic Avenue to 105th Drive South on the same schedule.
- One eastbound turn lane on Atlantic Avenue from the Wawa back entrance to U.S. 441, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
- The northbound sidewalk between Atlantic Avenue and Saturnia Isles Boulevard is closed. Pedestrians should use the southbound sidewalk.
- One eastbound lane on Atlantic Avenue from Lyons Road to the Turnpike may be closed from 8:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday through Thursday, for grading and striping.
- One westbound lane on Atlantic Avenue from Lyons Road to the Turnpike may be closed from 8:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday through Thursday, for striping and grading.
- The westbound sidewalk on the north side of Atlantic Avenue from Lyons Road to the Turnpike is closed. Pedestrians should use the eastbound sidewalk on the south side.
- One lane in each direction on Smith Sundy Road may be closed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday and Monday, for reconstruction and drainage. Flaggers will direct traffic.
Atlantic Avenue and Homewood Boulevard / Okeechobee and Haverhill Intersection Improvements
- One lane in each direction at Atlantic Avenue and Homewood/High Point Boulevard will be closed intermittently from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., April 27 through May 1.
- One lane in each direction on Atlantic Avenue east and west of Homewood/High Point will be closed intermittently from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., April 27 through April 30, for traffic loop installation.
- One lane in each direction on Okeechobee Boulevard east and west of Haverhill Road will be closed intermittently from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., April 26 through April 28, for pavement markings.
- One eastbound and westbound lane at Okeechobee Boulevard and Haverhill Road will be closed intermittently from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., April 27 through May 1, for signalization work.
- One lane in each direction on Haverhill Road north and south of Okeechobee Boulevard will be closed intermittently from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., April 27 through May 1.
- Right turn lanes at Haverhill Road and Okeechobee Boulevard will be closed intermittently from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., April 27 through May 1.
Glades Road (Boca Raton) — Maintenance
- Eastbound and westbound Glades Road from St. Andrew’s Boulevard to U.S. 1/Federal Highway will have one lane closed from 9 p.m. Sunday, April 26 to 4 a.m. Monday, April 27, for RPM installation.
CENTRAL PALM BEACH COUNTY
Boynton Beach Boulevard Resurfacing (Orchid Grove Trail to Palm Isles Drive)
- One outside lane in each direction will be closed intermittently for electrical work from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., April 27 through May 1.
- Two lanes will be closed in the same area for milling and resurfacing from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. through Sunday, May 3. Work occurs in one direction at a time.
S.R. A1A / South Ocean Boulevard (Lake Worth Beach to Palm Beach — Lake Avenue to Ibis Way)
- One lane may be closed with flagging operations daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and nightly from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m., Sunday through Friday, through April 30, for grading, harmonization, sod installation, and final striping.
- One lane of Lake Avenue just west of the South Ocean Boulevard intersection may also be closed in each direction on the same schedule through April 30.
- Beginning May 1, daily lane closures are permitted from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
S.R. A1A / South County Road (Palm Beach — Emerald Beach Way to Royal Palm Way)
- One lane may be closed with flagging from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, through April 30, for survey work and site restoration.
- Beginning May 1, daily lane closures run from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
- Overnight work may occur Sunday through Thursday, approximately midnight to 9 a.m., with lane closures and flagging for equipment staging.
- Drilled shaft installation for new traffic signal mast arms continues at the southwest corners of Peruvian Avenue and Worth Avenue.
- Sidewalk work and site restoration continues at Royal Palm Way, Palm Beach Fire Station No. 1, Peruvian Avenue, Golfview Road, and Hammon Avenue. Pedestrian detours are in place.
U.S. 1 Resurfacing (West Palm Beach — Belvedere Road to Okeechobee Boulevard)
- One lane may be closed intermittently in each direction from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday, May 4 through Friday, May 8, for concrete work. Note: This project is scheduled to begin in May 2026.
Florida’s Turnpike — Multiple Impacts
- Boynton Beach Boulevard Interchange (Exit 86): Daytime and nighttime construction continues through Spring 2026.
- Westbound Southern Boulevard has one inside lane closed continuously from the northbound Turnpike entrance to west of Pike Road through May 2026, for bridge widening.
- Eastbound and westbound Okeechobee Boulevard will have single lane closures between Vista Parkway and West Drive from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays through April 2026, for pile driving. Both directions will not be closed simultaneously.
Military Trail (West Palm Beach) — Maintenance
- Northbound Military Trail at Summit Boulevard will have one lane closed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, April 27, for sign installation.
NORTHERN PALM BEACH COUNTY
U.S. 1 Roadway Improvements (Riviera Beach to North Palm Beach)
This $13.4 million project continues through late 2027.
- One outside lane closed in each direction from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m., Monday through Friday.
- Northeast corner sidewalks at U.S. 1 and Blue Heron Boulevard are closed for concrete and signalization work, April 27 through May 1.
- The sidewalk along northbound U.S. 1 from Access Road to W. 11th Street remains closed through June 2026. Right-turn access to E. 11th Street is also closed. For cruise terminal access, continue straight and use 13th Street.
Beeline Highway (S.R. 710) Reconstruction (Northlake Boulevard to Blue Heron Boulevard)
This massive $148.2 million project continues through late 2029.
- Beeline Highway from Military Trail to Blue Heron Boulevard is reduced to one inside lane through May 2026.
- One inside lane closed in each direction daily from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Blue Heron to Northlake Boulevard); 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (at Northlake Boulevard); 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (at Jog Road); 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. (at Haverhill Road).
- One southeast-bound lane closed daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
- One outside southeast-bound lane from south of Haverhill Road to north of Jog Road closed from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday through Thursday, for demolition.
- Westbound traffic shifted to the median from just east of the Turnpike to Blue Heron Boulevard.
- The northwest Beeline Highway ramp to eastbound Northlake Boulevard remains temporarily closed. Motorists can turn right at the intersection light. Expected to reopen Spring 2026.
- The southeast Beeline Highway left turn lane to eastbound Blue Heron Boulevard is closed around the clock through May 2026. Detour: South on Beeline Highway, north on Military Trail, east on Blue Heron Boulevard.
- Westbound Blue Heron Boulevard to northwest Beeline Highway has been shifted to the outside newly constructed lane through May 2026. Those heading from Blue Heron to southbound Haverhill Road should use Military Trail south, then Beeline Highway northwest, then Haverhill Road south.
- Eastbound Blue Heron Boulevard from Beeline Highway to Military Trail has one outside lane closed daily from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
- Northlake Boulevard east and west of Beeline Highway each have one lane closed as needed from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. U-turns at Beeline Highway are not available through Winter 2026.
- Florida’s Turnpike near the Beeline Highway overpass has one lane closed in each direction Sunday nights from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. and Monday through Thursday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. through April 2026. Southbound Turnpike lanes near the overpass have been temporarily shifted through Spring 2026.
Earman River Bridge Replacement (North Palm Beach)
- Southbound U.S. 1 traffic from Anchorage Drive to Northlake Boulevard has been shifted to the northbound bridge, with two travel lanes open in each direction. This continues through Spring 2027.
- The southbound outside lane from Anchorage Drive to Northlake Boulevard will be closed intermittently daily from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- The Earman River channel is closed to marine traffic through Spring 2027. Mariners may alternate to the Intracoastal Waterway north to the Lighthouse Bridge.
PGA Boulevard (Palm Beach Gardens) — Utility Work
- The northbound I-95 off-ramp to eastbound PGA Boulevard and eastbound PGA Boulevard from west of Military Trail to west of RCA Boulevard will have one outside lane closed intermittently from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays through April 2026. Southeast corner sidewalks at PGA Boulevard and Military Trail to the southbound I-95 off-ramp are also closed. Pedestrians should use the northeast corner sidewalk.
WESTERN PALM BEACH COUNTY
U.S. 441 at Lake Worth Road
- Northbound U.S. 441 will have the outside right lane closed intermittently from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., April 27 through May 1, for earthwork and equipment mobilization.
Southern Boulevard Ramps and U.S. 441 Ramp Improvements
- One outside lane along northbound and southbound U.S. 441 will be closed intermittently, April 27 through May 1, for signalization and electrical work.
- Northbound and southbound U.S. 441 will have one lane closed intermittently Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. for roadway work.
- The northbound right-turn lane at the U.S. 441 on-ramp to eastbound Southern Boulevard is continuously closed for bridge widening.
- Northeast and southeast sidewalks at U.S. 441 and Southern Boulevard are continuously closed through Summer 2026. Pedestrian detours are in place.
U.S. 27 EAA Reservoir Canal Bridges (Glades Area, 27 Miles North of I-75)
- Intermittent single lane closures in both directions may occur from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., April 27 through May 1.
- Northbound lanes will be closed Wednesday, April 29, from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m., for crane relocation. Southbound lanes will handle alternating one-way traffic with flaggers directing.
- Northbound and southbound traffic has been shifted east to protect bridge and canal construction along the west side of U.S. 27 through December 31. Speed limit is reduced from 65 mph to 55 mph within project limits.
Southern Boulevard at Forest Hill Boulevard (Wellington) — Maintenance
- One lane will be closed in each direction from 9 p.m. Sunday, April 26 to 5 a.m. Monday, April 27, for pavement marking refurbishing.
