UPDATE: As of 9:41 a.m., the situation is under control. Traffic is moving.

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Two incidents that shouldn’t be a big deal are causing huge problems Tuesday morning on the Florida Turnpike in Boca Raton. Southbound traffic is backed up for miles.

The first problem is a disabled vehicle in a center lane north of Glades Road. That disabled vehicle was reported more than an hour ago, according to FDOT and FHP data, but is still an issue as of 8 a.m. The second problem is a crash that is not “officially” causing a backup, but FDOT cameras seem to offer a different point of view.

As of 8 a.m., BocaNewsNow.com estimates the backup to be at least five miles — from south of Boynton Beach Boulevard to just north of the Glades Road exit. If you can get off the Turnpike before — or at — Boynton Beach Boulevard, we encourage you to do so. Use side streets to work your way down to Glades or south of Glades, and then re-enter the Turnpike.

We will update if there is significant information to share. Otherwise, assume this will resolve itself within an hour or so.
