BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A security guard is suing Saint Andrew’s School of Boca Raton after he says a golf cart owned by the private school suddenly exploded while he was patrolling its campus, leaving him with severe and permanent burn injuries. The lawsuit, filed in Palm Beach County Circuit Court, seeks damages in excess of $50,000.
Giovanni Dalencour was employed by Sunstates Security, LLC, a third-party company contracted to provide security services at Saint Andrew’s campus. As part of his duties, the school assigned him one of its own golf carts to patrol the grounds. On or about July 12, 2024, while Dalencour was operating that cart, it exploded without warning — forcing him to jump from the vehicle.
The complaint alleges Dalencour suffered severe and permanent burn injuries to his back and chest, along with traumatic scarring across multiple areas of his body. His attorneys argue Saint Andrew’s School knew — or should have known through reasonable inspection and maintenance — that the golf cart was in a defective and dangerous condition before it was ever assigned to him. The lawsuit includes counts of negligence and negligent entrustment.
Plaintiff’s attorneys at the Adolphe Law Group, P.A. in Lake Worth argue the school failed to properly inspect, maintain, and service the golf cart, and allowed a dangerous piece of equipment to remain in active use on its campus. Dalencour is seeking damages for past and future pain and suffering, lost earning capacity, and medical expenses. Saint Andrew’s School has not yet responded to the complaint in court.
