PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A dispute over a dog named “Cutie Rocket” and a chicken named “Cutie Pie” has escalated into a legal battle in Palm Beach County, where the dog’s owner is fighting a county designation labeling the animal as aggressive.

According to court records, the case stems from two separate incidents in which chickens were reportedly attacked on a neighbor’s property. The first incident, in October 2025, involved multiple dogs entering a yard where chickens were kept, with one chicken later found dead. However, filings argue that no direct evidence shows Cutie Rocket was responsible for the killing, despite the county’s classification.

A second incident in January 2026 involved another chicken being injured but surviving after treatment. The county used both incidents to support its decision to classify Cutie Rocket as an “aggressive dog” under local ordinance. But the petition filed in court argues that the injury did not meet the legal definition of “severe,” which is required under county rules to justify such a designation.

The dog’s owner is now asking the court to overturn the classification, arguing that the county relied on speculation rather than solid evidence. The filing claims that video from the first incident showed dogs chasing chickens but did not clearly identify Cutie Rocket as the animal that killed the chicken. The petition also argues that witness accounts and investigative findings leave uncertainty about which dog caused the fatal injuries.

A Palm Beach County special magistrate previously upheld the aggressive dog designation in March 2026, prompting the current appeal. The outcome of the case could determine whether Cutie Rocket remains subject to strict restrictions or whether the designation will be thrown out altogether.
