LANTANA, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Lantana man is facing multiple felony charges after Palm Beach County Sheriff’s deputies say he sent threatening messages to his own mother in an attempt to extort money from her.
Alex Susman, according to an arrest report reviewed by BocaNewsNow.com, sent a series of text messages to his mom demanding the cash. The texts then escalated from insulting and abusive language to explicit threats of violence. Authorities say the messages included statements threatening bodily harm and even death.
Detectives say Susman demanded $500,000 from his mother and imposed a deadline for payment, warning of consequences if the demand was not met. The threats, police say, met the threshold for “extortion” under Florida law.

Alex Susman, 39, was arrested April 28 and faces charges including written threats to kill or cause bodily harm, extortion, and use of a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony. The victim told deputies she was frightened and shaken by the messages. Alex Susman, of Wickline Boulevard in Lantana, remains held on $35,000 bond.
